Quick answer

For a 200–600 m² banquet hall seating 150–400 guests we plan 4× JBL EON1500 full-range boxes or 2× Martin Audio A55, 2× K-ARRAY RedLine 12-inch powered subs, 2× BBS U-798D wireless handheld sets, one Yamaha MG06 console and 2× Adamson PLM 20K44 amplifiers. The A55 is rated 134 dB peak over a 90° × 60° pattern from a 38 kg cabinet, and the EON1500 reaches 124 dB peak from 55 Hz–20 kHz; every unit is powered up and bench-tested in our warehouse before it ships.

A banquet room changes shape every week: rounds one day, theatre seating the next, a dance floor after dinner. The system has to be quick to set up and forgiving of a room that was never designed for audio.

Two full-range speakers on stands either side of the stage cover a function room of up to a few hundred guests. Angling them slightly inward keeps speech intelligible without blasting the front tables.

Add one compact subwoofer for the dance set and a DSP preset with a gentle low-mid cut, so toasts stay clear while the band still has weight. Keep the whole rig on wheels so one person can move it between rooms.

Wireless microphones matter more than the speakers here: two handhelds for speeches, one lavalier for the host, spare batteries on the desk, and a console with a clear simple layout that any duty manager can operate.

Installer pain points and how we solve them

The three problems that come up most often in this kind of room — and the specific way we plan around each one.

What goes wrong in the room How we plan around it
The same room hosts a wedding toast at 6 pm and a four-piece band at 9 pm.
We ship the PLM 20K44 with two presets stored and named — Speech with a low-mid cut, Band with the sub opened up — so the change is one recall, not a re-tune. Sub level runs on its own amp channel, so toasts never have to go through the bass bin.
The next booking starts two hours after the last guest leaves.
Everything is chosen to move by hand: the A55 is a 38 kg box, the RedLine sub is a slim powered cabinet, and the amp rack ships pre-wired with numbered looms. Changeover is unplug, roll, plug, recall — with no re-patching.
Clients see the black boxes before they see the room.
We plan flown positions or low stands with the boxes toed in toward the seats, and put the slim powered 12-inch sub under the head table instead of a stack on the dance floor. Cables are dressed to the wall and rigging hardware travels in the same crate, not loose on the carpet.

Configuration by room size

Starting points by floor area. Tell us your room size and we adjust the list.

≤ 200 m²

Small function room

2 speakers on stands, 1 compact sub, 2 wireless mics and a 4-channel amp.

2 1 1 2

Why this count

Two EON1500 boxes at 124 dB peak on stands either side of the top table cover a 200 m² room of about 150 seated guests; each cabinet is 225 W at 8 Ω and 55 Hz–20 kHz, so one PLM 20K44 channel drives it with headroom, and a single RedLine 12-inch powered sub (1200 W, 132 dB, 40–150 Hz) gives the first dance its low end.

200–600 m²

Standard banquet hall

4 speakers flown or on stands, 2 subs, 4 wireless mics and a small digital console.

4 2 4 1

Why this count

Four A55 boxes, two per side, each 134 dB peak on a 90° × 60° pattern, hold a 400 m² room of 300–400 guests without a delay ring; 1200 W AES and 38 kg per cabinet mean two people can stand-mount them, and one PLM 20K44 supplies exactly four 2000 W channels for those four boxes while two RedLine subs cover 40–150 Hz.

600 m²+

Large hotel ballroom

6 speakers flown per side, 4 subs, 6 wireless mics and a DSP with speech presets.

6 4 6 1

Why this count

Six A55 boxes at 134 dB peak each, three per side or in two small hangs, keep speech intelligible to the back row of a 600 m² ballroom of 500–600 guests; four RedLine subs in two coupled pairs reach 132 dB per cabinet, and two PLM 20K44 units give eight 2000 W channels with one Ethernet-networked DSP stage storing the presets for the whole room.

Buyer questions

How many speakers does a 300-guest banquet hall need?

Plan on four full-range boxes (two per side), two 12-inch subs, four wireless mics and one small console — the 200–600 m² tier on this page. Two Martin Audio A55 per side at 134 dB peak with a 90° × 60° pattern hold 300–400 seated guests without a delay speaker.

Is a banquet system or a house of worship system the better fit?

Take the banquet system when the same room has to carry a toast and then a band with a dance floor, and when the rig comes down between bookings. A house of worship system is a fixed install tuned to one seating layout, with more weight on speech intelligibility and volunteer operation.

What wireless microphone setup comes with the system?

Two BBS U-798D sets: a cardioid handheld and a 1U rack receiver per set, 50 Hz–18 kHz and 130 dB peak. Larger rooms move to four or six handhelds. The receivers stay patched in the rack, so the operator only changes batteries between speeches.
